HOW DOES IT WORK?

One person – the “Star”– is matched with 6 potential love interests – their “Callers”

1

They go on dates over the phone and never see each other. After the dates, the Star chooses one person to “hang up” on and eliminate from the show.

2

But there’s a twist: in the end, the winning Caller makes their own choice – to either choose the Star back and take an all-expenses-paid vacation together or hang up on them and take a cash prize instead.

3

To wrap up the season, all the contestants meet each other IRL for a reunion episode in front of a live audience where things get messy...

4

Themed Dates!

  • Speed Dial: The Star has a first date with each of the twelve Callers… for only 7 minutes each.

  • Touch Tone: Each Caller packs a box to send to the Star to unpack during a date together. This is the only time they can exchange more than words.

  • Phone a Friend: The Star chooses a friend or family member to fill in for them on their phone date, then gets their advice on who they should hang up on next.

  • *69: A listener favorite! For the first time, the Star and their Callers describe what they look like and what they like in the bedroom

Who We Are

Caitlin Pierce is Hang Up’s creator and executive producer. She is an award-winning audio producer, story editor, and teacher, with work appearing on Audible, NPR, WNYC, KCRW, the BBC, and other initials. Outside of audio, she flexes her production skills in her craft cocktail ice business, Lady Chiller. She loves growing vegetables, being an aunt, and salsa dancing.

Ben Montoya is Hang Up’s senior producer and sound designer. They have produced and mixed podcasts for Conde Nast, Audible, PRX, TED, and similar allegedly “woke” media companies. Ben teaches audio at NYU, volunteers as a TikTok editor for 505omatic, a hyperlocal newsroom, and is directing an independent documentary feature. They enjoy long walks by the acequia, listening to sad boy music, and arguing about how to cook and eat Pokémon.
